1. Rasa Leela is the mystical dance-recitals which Lord Krishna performed amongst the Gopis or Gopikas (milkmaids of Gokul).
2. It is an essential part of Lord Krishna’s traditional story that is described in Hindu scriptures and literature in an elaborated format.
3. The term Rasa actually means "aesthetics" and Lila or Leela stands for "act," "play" or "dance".
4. Lord Krishna always drew the Gopikas into dancing pastimes and pranks, where the maidens danced and sung songs to the tunes of his flute.
5. During different social events, the dramatic folk re-enactment of this Rasa Leela is performed by artists and devotees.
6. In the Krishna Bhakti traditions, the Rasa Leela is considered to be one of the highest and most esoteric of Lord Krishna's pastimes.
